Board, Committees & Governance

As of October 1, 2016, OCTC has amalgamated with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Previously, we worked closely with CHEO staff as many of our patients also are clients of CHEO. This amalgamation means that we can now provide better, coordinated care for these shared patients and their families.

CHEO-OCTC is operated and driven by a Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.

The Board of Directors, on behalf of the membership and general community, governs CHEO-OCTC through continually improved leadership with respect to our mission, vision and values.

In addition, the Board of Directors establishes and records policies for the strategic direction and good management of CHEO- OCTC, and oversees a number of Board Committees focusing on specific areas of service.

Our Strategic Directions

In 2011 the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre celebrated its 60th anniversary. It was an appropriate time to reflect on the needs of our clients and families within the evolving landscape of our community and to develop a plan to address the challenges we face.

The strategic planning process was guided by OCTC’s core values of respect, excellence and safety, collaboration and cooperation, stewardship and advocacy. It involved consultation with our stakeholders including our clients and families; our staff and volunteers, our community partners and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

The four cornerstones of OCTC’s new 2012-17 strategic plan are excellence, partnerships, communications, and outcomes. The OCTC Board of Directors finalized and approved the plan in May 2012 and will continue to monitor progress towards achieving our strategic directions as an organization over the course of the next five years.

Every individual at OCTC: leaders, staff and volunteers, as well as our clients and families and community partners will play a role in bringing this plan into action.
